Workshop Testimonials |

Suhaila Salimpour was not only one of my original inspirations to Belly
Dance, she continually reconfigures my understanding of the dance form.
She is a dancer's dancer, and will always challenge, encourage, and
re-inspire you. Even after dancing all her life, she's got the same
enthusiasm of a newcomer, and is incredibly knowledgeable of anatomy
and physiology. If you haven't taken a week-long workshop from her,
you really owe it to yourself and your dancing to go, every single
penny is worth it: you'll be using what she taught you for years.
-Rachel Brice
San Francisco, CA
The Indigo
Attending this Workshop has been an inspiring life changing experience. Suhaila is a warm-hearted woman whose passion is the dance, and has become my inspiration. Through this experience, she has helped me internalize every moment, and has taken me to a new level of the dance. She and her staff are down to earth, and you can tell they all love their work. I can’t wait to take another workshop to further my dance knowledge and have a great time and meet new friends, who all share the same love.-Roselee Kislowski Bristow, VA Mental Health Technician
From my heart, I want to honestly express what a beautiful school Suhaila has. The devotion and dedication that Suhaila and Jamila have given to Middle Eastern Dance is unsurpassed and the attention and nurturing that every student receives is the best! You leave the Weeklong Workshop with more than a year’s worth of technique to take home with you.-Melissa J. Calmes Alexandria, VA Executive Assistant
I’m not sure that I would recommend the workshop to anyone who wasn’t already a bellydance enthusiast (it would kill them!). But, for anyone interested in Bellydance already I would highly recommend Suhaila’s Workshop as a way to intensely refine technique, learn more about your weakness and strengths and gain an amazing set of tools to apply to their own vision.-Jill Parker San Francisco, CA Dancer/Ultra Gypsy
Usually for me to feel like I’ve really accomplished a goal it must reach certain standards of difficulty. This workshop was truly a test of not only physical endurance, but mental as well. Even though I was exhausted at the end of every day, I was so excited to get started the next morning. My only complaint was that I didn’t want it to end! I am a changed woman!!-Laura Calmes Towson, MD Human Resources
The bellydance world is so vast that it can be hard to find a niche for yourself. It can be difficult to find a group who can be dedicated to the joy of dancing while not becoming jealous and competitive. Why not go straight to the source? Suhaila and Jamila are legends and have dedicated their lives, so unselfishly, to giving back all they have experienced. Suhaila is loving, nurturing, down to earth and a consummate teacher. Her technique will push you to your limits and you will come out of it with a different perspective.-Beth Calmes Reston, VA Executive Assistant
The workshops and format forces you to go beyond your dance “Comfort Zone”, which results in you being a stronger, better developed, and confident dancer. I’ve never pushed myself as I have in this format and instead of being intimidated or discouraged by the things that I cannot yet do in this format, I feel inspired. I look forward to having more control over my body and how this makes me a better dancer. It is a very personal and meaningful experience.-Christine Millan Soroker Philadelphia, PA Dancer/Attorney
If you want to get the core of your being; Physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually, this is a great place to start. I learned to identify muscles responsible for moving my body and how to be challenged and nurtured at the same time. To let myself (Ego) die and surrender to the experience was the gift of the journey. As far as dance goes this intensive workshop sets the standard for quality, safety and grace in Bellydance.-Kris Kappel Snohomish, WA Retail Shop Owner
You have no idea how good it truly is. You have to see it for yourself. The format speaks for itself. It will challenge you and everything that you have ever learned or thought you knew about Bellydance. Leave your ego at the door and be prepared to feel broken down and then built back up again on a foundation that is real and reliable. If you’ve taken it once you should take it again. Each workshop is different.-Moria Chappell Marietta, GA Bellydancer
No matter where you are in your training, Suhaila will help you break through your limitations, both physical and mental. -Kitiera Seattle, WA Dance Teacher
If you want to turn your dance technique upside down, be humbled, sore, frustrated, invigorated, and inspired, this is the place for you! -Meleah San Diego, CA Instructor/Performer
I think this is how bellydance should be taught everywhere- there would be fewer injuries and dancers would have much better technique in general. Emphasis on posture and the use of muscles over joints is key.-Crystal Drumheller Flagstaff, AZ Engineer
A part from the incredible approach to technique, the workshop reawakened in me the true appeal of bellydance; Community, control of one’s body, the countless possibilities of this art for women of all ages, sizes, shapes and backgrounds.-Adnil Ramos Las Vegas, NV English Teacher
"This format gives me hope that there will always be a higher level to achieve. It is the first substantial attempt at creating a standard format for our dance. The format is an opportunity to gain respect for Belly Dance as a performing art and an efficient means to disseminate knowledge and conserve the practice of our dance."-Betsi (Bahia) Montgomery Austin, TX Belly Dance Promoter
