Tiffany Bisconer
I remember trying so hard as a girl to create a sanctuary for my sisters. Our whole family structure was unstable from the ground up. Sometimes we would move 5-6 times a year just to escape the messes my parents would make from associating with the wrong types of people. I wanted so badly to be happy and stable. It meant the world to me to make sure I buffered as much as I could from my sisters. In our environment the only thing that saved my spirit was being with them. I wanted so badly for them to see the beauty in life even if that meant I had to create it as a daily fantasy to show them a world of possibilities. One night, like any other night in Tiffany’s Fantastic Fantasy Circus, I choreographed a skewed version of Swan Lake that involved face paint, a bunk bed and of course, excessive drama. In attempt to get the “flying off the bunk bed as a delicate feather” technique down I drilled my sisters through an extensive emotional prep session before sending them up to the top of the bunk bed to practice their “graceful” descents to the floor.
Through the laughter and weezing so hard we would just burst into tears, we spent our nights together following my new visions and youthful production concepts. I felt like I had a mini tribe with me every step of the way and I felt completely responsible for their happiness. They looked up to me with this sparkle of hope that I wanted to grab hold of and nurture.

Just this past weekend I was with Suhaila teaching a workshop in St. Louis. After the first day of the workshop we went together to a restaurant to watch our sponsor dance. During her set my eye got fixed on this sparkly little girl who leaned over and told her mother that she wanted to be pretty like that when she grows up. My heart stung watching her eyes glow with happiness over this vision she had of herself as a beautiful woman. Watching her I felt this bittersweet nostalgia that made me miss my sisters. She had a pleasantly naïve and inspired look of excitement for the future. As the dancer reached her hand out for her to come and dance, the little girl slid out of her chair and followed the dancers movements clearly…..practicing for her future career……
On the other side of the restaurant there was an adorable young girl sitting with her family. Next, the dancer went up to her. As soon as the little girl realized she was being asked to dance she was so shocked that she squealed and bounded off of her chair. She was so excited that she couldn’t stop jumping in disbelief. Her eyes took up half of her face as she covered her mouth and tried desperately to calm down so she could follow the movements of the dancer. She was on top of the world and her happiness just about killed me. She looked like she just had a wish come true, she was handed something she was praying for…..to be noticed.
As she returned to her seat, still bouncing, this beautiful young girl was beaming. When she was seated Suhaila got up and told her she looked beautiful dancing, she was definitely meant to be a dancer. At that point the girl almost fell out of her chair…. Suhaila tends to have that effect on people. The girl pressed her hands to her heart and looked up to the ceiling as if she couldn’t bear the happiness. She seemed so thankful for this night of hope that would probably change her life. By this point, I was bawling into my hummus. This girl was so amazed that not only did someone choose her to dance, but Suhaila said that she was good. She couldn’t handle the excitement. Her glow came from the bottom of her heart and her whole body was vibrant with how much it meant to her to be seen.
Seeing this innocent and well deserved display of pure joy made me see how important it is to develop the confidence to feel worth it starting in youth in order to develop the sense of opportunity in life at a young age. There needs to be that sense of unaltered hope in order to thrive. What I’ve noticed as we get older less and less emphasis gets placed on our personal happiness and excitement for future growth. Without the art of hope and possibility, inspiration gets disorientated and sometimes even lost. One of the many rewarding aspects about working side by side with Suhaila is seeing this spark get re-ignited in women. The format is groundbreaking and revolutionary, but the emotional and personal impact in unexplainable. She is a mentor with a vision that is used as a catalyst to show many women the key to their own happiness. Through the art form Suhaila is able to nurture a potential from woman that can change their outlook not only on dance, but on life. Suhaila’s vision is not only to advance her art form and raise the standard through her format, but a huge part of her encompassing vision is to raise the quality of life in the women that come into her artistic realm. With our kids classes and having a general awareness of a woman's well being she's even able to affect the young generation of dancers. They feel confident and able before they even realize there's any other options.

By Suhaila's side, I feel that I am able to witness the turning point in many women’s lives, including my own. I walked into Suhaila’s studio for the first time thinking dubiously that I would try something new. I new I would be physically challenged and I was looking forward to that, but I was in no way prepared for that one whim to change my entire life. Suhaila has been the first person to open doors in my life that I would’ve never known were there unless I had stumbled into her studio. I had all the heart and hope, and without consciously knowing it I was soul searching for a path I could believe in and a mentor who could spark my inspiration. Although it took a little while for my limbs to get untangled in the warm up, I felt immediately like I had found something worth fighting for in many ways. When I discovered Suhaila and her all encompasing vision, I felt the excitement of that bright eyed girl in the restaurant. I felt that my desire to create a beautiful life now had a clearer focus. She gave me the gift of being able to look at life without limits. She changed my outlook from basic survival tactics to being able to see a never ending path of possibilities for myself in my lifetime.
I’m grateful and unbelievably honored to be able to witness the impact Suhaila has on women (and children) all over the world. Nothing has made me more fulfilled than being able to see the feeling of infinite potential transpire in the women Suhaila touches. I’m inspired everyday and give thanks to the choices I didn’t realize I was making. I wake up everyday still hoping that my sisters are proud of me and knowing that I will do my best to be proud of myself every step of the way. The biggest reminder I got after seeing the little girl in the restaurant explode with gratitude is…..everyone deserves to be noticed and must be encouraged to see their full potential ……especially by themselves.

Attending this Workshop has been an inspiring life changing
experience. Suhaila is a warm-hearted woman whose passion
is the dance, and has become my inspiration. Through this
experience, she has helped me internalize every moment, and
has taken me to a new level of the dance. She and her staff
are down to earth, and you can tell they all love their work.
I can’t wait to take another workshop to further my
dance knowledge and have a great time and meet new friends,
who all share the same love. -Roselee Kislowski Bristow, VA
